Bavarian Music
Bavarian Music is as varied and delightful as any other folk music. It can be played with the fiddle, the accordion, guitar, double bass, zither and others. The famous umpta brass sound is only usually used for big halls or beer tents.
Pigsong: The pig has four feet, a head and a tail. In the next verse you take a knife and cut off the tail. Now you have a pig without a tail. In the next verse you take some glue and glue it back on. Now you have a pig with a tail. And in the last verse you take the pig by the tail and pull... now you have a tail in your hand, and the pig is up and away!
beer: A lot of Bavarian music is a homage to beer. the lyrics of the song 'Bier her, Bier her, oder ich fall um, juchhe!' make absolutely no sense as the translation would be: 'Beer to me, beer to me, or I will fall over, yeah!' meanwhile the falling over usually occurs once the beer has arrived and not before.
Hans: Whoever it was, there are plenty of songs written about him. They discuss the weather and his bavarian maiden patiently awaiting his return.
Zwiefacher: Very interesting rhythmically, this kind of tune alternates between two different rhythms every two or three bars.
